Lombard District 44 Seeks to Bring Community Together, Develop New Focus

In an effort to develop a common focus and vision for Lombard District 44, Superintendent Ted Stec has launched a year-long strategic planning process. Known as Connect 44, the goal is to develop a 3-5 year outlook for the district that is reflective of the needs of the Lombard school community.

“Since becoming superintendent, you have heard me continually reference what I feel is fundamental to our success as a district, and that is that we are all in this together,” Stec said. “With the new administration now in place, we have an incredible opportunity to look forward and begin to define the future of Lombard District 44. I am hopeful you will be part of this journey with us, which begins today with the official launch of our strategic planning process -- Connect 44.”

Stec, who was named Superintendent in 2017, recently restructured the administration in District 44 to provide greater and more strategic support to the schools. From this came the hiring of Chief Academic Officer Brett Sharkey, Chief Operations Officer Neil Perry, Director of Communications & Strategic Planning Jenn Nimke and Director of Labor and Employee Relations Tod Altenburg. The four officially joined the district in July.

Stec noted the strategic planning process, “is the first step on our journey of coming together to develop a common understanding and connection to the work that we do. We need to listen to the needs of our stakeholders and collectively determine our vision for the students and staff of this incredible district.”

A committee of representatives from all stakeholder groups will be leading this effort, with the first meeting scheduled for Wednesday, September 19. The district anticipates this process will take place throughout the entirety of the 2018-19 school year, with the outcome being a new strategic plan that outlines the district’s mission, vision and goals for the next five years.

Parents, staff members and community members are invited to take part in this process by completing a survey. Please click here for more information or to complete the survey today.

“I am excited to begin this process of determining --alongside all of you--our vision for Lombard District 44, and I look forward to having ongoing communication throughout the entirety of Connect 44,” Stec said.
